Briefly Describe The Detection And Use Of Temperature Switches

- Jun 02, 2020-

The temperature switch is also called a thermal relay. The temperature switch is in the conducting state at low temperature. When the temperature rises to the operating temperature of the temperature switch, the temperature switch is turned off; when the temperature drops below the operating temperature, the temperature switch is turned on again. To test whether the temperature switch is good or bad, you can use the resistance of the multimeter to connect the two test leads of the multimeter to the two pins of the temperature switch. At room temperature, the resistance of the multimeter is basically 0, and then use a hot electric soldering iron (above 20 W) The soldering iron can be used to heat the metal shell of the temperature switch for about 2 to 3 minutes (when the operating temperature of the temperature switch is reached), the temperature switch will sound, and the resistance value of the multimeter should be infinite.

Remove the electric soldering iron, after the temperature of the temperature switch drops, you can hear another beep, and the resistance value displayed by the multimeter is zero again. A temperature switch capable of such a change is good. If the two lead wires of the temperature switch are not connected with the resistance measurement of the multimeter; or if they are connected during the measurement, and the temperature switch is heated for a long time, the temperature switch will continue, such a temperature switch is broken.

When using the temperature switch, the operating temperature should be the same as the "maintaining" temperature of the electric heater. For example, an electric kettle can select a temperature switch with an operating temperature of 100°C. In addition, the rated voltage and current marked by the temperature switch should be slightly larger than the voltage and current when the electric heater is working. The temperature switch should be installed as close as possible to the parts that the electric heater needs to reach the "maintain" temperature.
